It’s autumn, and the hideous things are absolutely everywhere.  Then again, you can’t even get away from them in the summer, when they’re worn with short-shorts, dresses, and skirts. What ARE they, exactly? They just exist in their ugly way, something I’ve had to grow used to facing. In addition, they are mainly made of sheepskin, and I personally love sheep too much to walk around on them all day. I understand that people love the extreme comfort and warmth that they bring, “happiness for your feet,” as I’ve heard it, but can’t we make our feet happy without the hideousness that is the Curse of the Ugglies?

I honestly do not remember a time when the fashion faux paw did not exist, but sadly, I can’t say I’ve always hated them. In my defense, this was in junior high when I wanted everything my best friend wanted, which at that time was a brand new pair of pink Ugglies. I could imagine myself parading around with them, happy as can be, another victim of a terrible trend. Luckily, I never got around to buying them.

I can ecstatically say that I am one of the few girls I know that has NEVER owned a pair of the over-purchased, over-advertised, boots. I will never even plan on getting close to committing the faux pas that is the Curse of the Ugglies.

School sends 88 pupils home over uniforms

A school that launched a zero-tolerance policy on uniforms sent 88 pupils home on the first day of the new term for breaches of the new regulations.Staff at Kingswood College of Arts, in Hull, ordered scores of children out of lessons for breaches including wearing Ugg boots and failing to wear blazers.

The new rules were adopted after teachers noticed standards at the 900-pupil school had begun to slip in September.

A total of 88 pupils were sent home on Monday under the new guidelines, with 53 returning correctly dressed later.

But a further 25 were given warnings on Tuesday, angering many parents.

Parent Cindy Hilton's 14-year-old daughter Bronwyn Constable was sent home on both days for failing to wear a blazer.

"She has gone to school as normal in full school uniform but she does not like the blazers," she said. "Sending them home is a bit much.

"They are missing out on their education. Children don't learn with their clothes."

"If you take any successful school, the first thing they do is to tackle the uniform," she said.

"I owe it to the greatest majority of parents who send their children in dressed correctly and I am determined it will happen.

"It is a basic requirement. It is very simple to remember to wear it in the morning."

She added: "The greatest majority of parents are supportive, but I find it disconcerting that some parents are not and that some children think they can do what they want."

Drayson: 'Home and Away return is great'

What Australians Wear Southbank store manager Debbie Knaggs says their 100 per cent Australian-made Chic Empire UGG boots , designer boots"walk out the door" - at $180 a pair.
